    stopping a movie clip symbol

    johentie
      hey i am making a flash intro and

      i made a movie symbol (that takes up one frame) with actions scripts and what it does is it scrolls pictures from right to left and there is about 8 pictures it goes through but the window size fits one picture at a time.

      after the last picture slides i want to continue my flash but it won;t let me.

      is there a way to stop the movie instance? then start making more flash objects ?

          What do you mean it won't let you?

          This movie symbol you made, it's on the main timeline? In frame one? Do you have a stop(); command in frame one? If so, after your last slide comes out, add _parent.play(); and your flash movie will move on to frame 2 of the main timeline.

          We really need more info to properly help. Are you using code to slide the pictures in and out or the timeline of the movie symbol you made?

          If the above didn't help, you will need to provide more info.

            sorry..

            i think what u are telling me is correct..

            i will try it and let you know..

            the movie is in frame 1 and after the movie is done i do want it to move to frame two like u said above, which i will use the add _parent.play();

            i tried using add_parent.play(); but it didn't work

            here is the code i am using to scroll the window so it looks like the window is moving along a line...

            onClipEvent (load)
            {
            xcenter=150;
            speed=1/10;
            }
            onClipEvent (enterFrame)
            {
            var distance=-xcenter;
            _x+=(distance*speed);
            }

            add _parent.play();

            this is what my flash file looks like.. it;s just an example i drew up really quick.. what it does is that the line travels through the white box and when the line comes to an end i want it to move to the second frame and contiue the tween in frame 2.
            make sense?

              i meant

              onClipEvent (load)
              {
              xcenter=150;
              speed=1/10;
              }
              onClipEvent (enterFrame)
              {
              var distance=-xcenter;
              _x+=(distance*speed);
              }

              _parent.play();
