When I apply an audio fade in/out and try to adjust the time (left/right movement), I usually end up also adjusting the volume level (up/down movement). This is a pain, as getting it back to +/-0dB can tend to be a task. So I was wondering if I could maybe utilize a macro or if there was any way I could isolate the movement of the audio fade so I don't accidentally change the volume level. Again, is there a way to lock the vertical movement of the audio fade while adjusting it horizontally?
The easiest way to adjust the length of the audio fade without monkeying up it's level setting is to select the clip on your timeline and then click Adjust to open the Adjustment panel.
In the clip's Adjustment panel, open the Volume listing, click the Show Keyframes stopwatch to open the keyframe timeline and then just drag the position of the diamond-shaped keyframe further from the end of the clip.
Thanks! Also, you know what I just found..? Check out the tooltip in the very bottom left corner of my screenshot; right above my start bar.
Great tip, clanderson!
