So I was wondering if there is a way to have a different group for a set of fonts.

I used Type DNA for a while. It works as an Extension in Photoshop, so you can have a big Type DNA panel set up in one of your custom Workspaces. It gives you loads of control over your fonts, and is on $49. Thi thing is, when the lengthy trial period timed out, I somehow never got round to paying for it to make it a permanent addition, so I guess I didn't consider it something I could cope without. Not sure why because it is really pretty good.
I guess Suitcase is the one most people talk about. It's the sort of functionality that you always hope will be built into the next version of Photoshop. InDesign CC apparently has had some work done regards font management, but I have not played with it yet.
