Depends on what system you are on.... You know, it's old software and Distilelr 6 simply would not be compatible on Win Vista/ Win7/ Win 8, only Win XP...
I am using Windows 7 64 bit. My mother is also. She has Distiller 6 intallled and can export pdfs from Pagemaker. Perhaps her Distiller was installed with the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter. Another solution might be to make pdfs from Pagemaker documents using CutePDFWriter.
Moving this discussion to the Pagemaker forum.
PM was killed off almost ten years ago, and was never intended for any 64bit environment. Use your version of PM with a contemporary OS.
However, congrats on managing to install it as the installer often has a hissy fit on 64 bit systems.
If it is running, forget Export… AdobePDF… (which works best with Distiller 5 and Win2K http://bigjohnd.org.uk/PageMakerExportPDF/index.htm ). Your least worst bet is the AdobePDF printer.
But you're on your own here. Disaster awaits.
Remember to keep a copy of your PM file before you attempt any heroics. And look to moving on to InDesign aka PM Ver 13.
Thanks for your advise. I tried AdobePDF printer (which I hadn't realized that I had) but didn't get past "Starting print job". I had to end task "Save PDF File As". With CutePDFWriter I get the SaveAs window and can save the pdf.
