Why do I have to enter my date of birth?

    Jim from KS

      Another Adobe Surprise:

I just tried to open AAM, it showed an "update available".  When I ran the update, it replaced AAM with Adobe Cloud.  Next a window opened asking for my user ID and password, followed by "date of birth".  Don't want (or need) Cloud, so I deleted the Adobe Cloud from Windows Programs - Uninstall or Change.

Never a dull minute with Adobe.

Note: All of this #*+@ started when I installed Photoshop Elements 11.  One more "surprise" and I go back to Corel PaintShop Pro x5.

Jim you are being requested to enter your date of birth as it is a requirement to have this information attached to your Adobe ID to use another of our online services.

Access to these services require us to ensure that Users are of a certain age in order to view information which may possibly be available there.  These services are not limited to the Creative Cloud umbrella of services offered from Adobe but includes services such as Acrobat.com for example.

            Jim,

I read Adobe's reply to your last post. Adobe said, "Jim you are being requested to enter your date of birth as it is a requirement to have this information attached to your Adobe ID to use another of our online services."

Really?  Your age is a requirement?  Why?  What has your age got to do with anything?

Adobe says, "Access to these services require us to ensure that Users are of a certain age in order to view information which may possibly be available there.

Puh-lease!  A "certain age?"  What "certain age?"  "Information which may "possibly" be (there)?"  "Possibly?"  How "possibly?'  "There?"  Where the hell is "there"?  What are they worried about, nuclear launch codes?

Adobe adds,  "These services (requiring your date of birth) are not limited to the Creative Cloud umbrella of services offered from Adobe . . . "

"Creative cloud umbrella?"  That's the "umbrella" Adobe is going to rip out of your hand the moment you fail to make your monthly payment for their software rental, right?  Or, am I wrong?

Make no mistake, this is the advent, the silent night, the holy night of Adobe's massive rip off of its own customers.  This is Adobe's view of "all is calm, all is bright" — a bright, shining future wherein Adobe will reap massive profits on the backs of its hostages without lifting a finger to earn a god damn dime!

              Buynomore,

Yep, the DOB request was a surprise.  Did you notice the last sentence in my last post ?

"One more "surprise" and I go back to Corel PaintShop Pro x5"

Looks like it's time for "goodby Adobe" and "Corel, I'm back".

I just got back from Corel's website.  Pro x5 is still the current version.  They are running specials on compatible Corel products for Adobe users.

Note: There was no "age requirement" when I purchased Photoshop Elements  11.

                I did notice it!

Good for them!  Wish it was of some use to me.  My longing is for Aldus

SuperPaint, that ran on Mac OX 9.  I still have OS 9 on a fossil computer,

but I lost the SuperPaint.  Adobe bought it up and strangled it in its crib.

Can't help but wonder how Adobe's CEO would feel if I bought up all

the condoms he was planning to use to screw his customers.

                Next thing we'll hear from Adobe is that they require [Edited by moderator per community guidelines] so they can "ensure that Users can view information which may "possibly" be "available."  These Adobe execs are such putrid garbage! Time we sheep grew horns;

                Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité!

                Hang in there, Jim!

It's important that adobe have your details so they can supply them to any hacker that happen to drop by. clowns.

                    Good for you, Buynomore!

In July of 2010 I bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.  It worked fine until a few months ago.  Now it crashes for a variety of reasons, principal among them my attempts to access "help."  Every time I click on "Photoshop Elements Help" the program crashes and I get an error message reading, "Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 quit unexpectedly." I've been limping along since then, using Google to help me out since I learned that Adobe now wants its hostages to pay ransom on a monthly basis.

Just got a message from a drone at Adobe reading,

                    > ". . . we recently discovered that an attacker illegally entered our network

                    > and may have obtained access to your Adobe ID and encrypted password."

                    > We value the trust of our customers . . .

                    My reply:

                    Adobe,

                    I don't need a password!

Take my trust and your ******* Creative Cloud
and shove 'em where the sun don'tb shine!  You're
