i see the same in the timeline panel but the other panels' text looks ok.
yeah it indeed seems to be the way they intended it. Doesn't make sense though!

What is your OS?
Mac: (Supported OS are OSX 10.7 and 10.8)
Can you check if any of the system fonts are disabled - mainly “LucidaGrande”, Tahoma and Verdana.
1)Open Font Book from your Applications directory. If you are on Mac OS X 10.7, you can use the Launchpad.
2)Right-click the disabled font, and select Enable <font> family. Ensure that you have enabled Verdana and Tahoma.

Can you check if Tahoma is present in your system fonts folder.
Thanks for the suggestion! I am running Mac OS X 10.8.2 but unfortunately none of those fonts were disabled.
