Why not check the boards out on the Asus web site?
So i ask to the Asus guy for Z87 1394 ports, he send me the Z87 comparison chart and even in the chart i can't find any 1394 port. The offical site mentioned only on one model the Z87-WS has the port but the
chart didn't mentioned it has the port.....
This is specs of Z87-WS on Asus.com.
Here is the comparison chart link http://promos.asus.com/us/z87/comparison/
Thanks Eric very helpful,
do u aware of any other Z87 model has 1394?
There is only one Z87 Asus board that has FireWire built in (IEEE 1394), and it is the Z87-WS. Asus's US motherboard comparison tool does show this clearly, but you can only view a maximum of 5 motherboards at a time.
I wouldn't be too hung up on this for your purchasing decision, especially since the chipset on the Z87-WS 1394 is VIA. You can always add an expansion card, and some users have reported to the forum over the years that TI chipset 1394 seems to work better for many legacy camcorders, players, etc., which I will assume is why you require FireWire in the first place.
I am not seeing any with the usual suspects. The other option is get the Thunderbolt version and use a TB to 1394 adapter or just get a 1394 card as Jim suggests.
This is an obsolet port OP, but an 1394 card or adapter may serve in its place.
