Ken G. Rice Jun 25, 2013 3:36 PM (in response to buidlmacha)Moved from the Creative Cloud to the Photoshop forum. They will be able to help you here.

Chris Cox Jun 25, 2013 5:20 PM (in response to buidlmacha)What specific operations give that message?
How much space is available on your OS disk volume?
And have you tried disabling all third party plugins?

3. Re: Why has PS CC out of RAM issues for same operation handled ok in CS6
Trevor.Dennis Jun 25, 2013 7:37 PM (in response to buidlmacha)You are definitely in Photoshop 64bit ? Exactly how much RAM are you seeing as available in Preferences? It aounds obvious, but the first time I opened CC there was no indication from the icon, and I had memory issues, and of course it turned out I had opened the 32bit version.

Noel Carboni Jun 25, 2013 10:20 PM (in response to buidlmacha)Implied, but not said, is that Photoshop CC doesn't do anything fundamentally differently regarding RAM allocation than its predecessor. I'm betting you're accidentally running the 32 bit variant also.

buidlmacha Jun 26, 2013 7:42 AM (in response to Noel Carboni)Thanks Gentlemen for your reply's. Some of the issue has "righted" itself somewhat with continuous use.
I am curiouse however, about where CC installed itselfe. It is installed under Programe Files (x86) as Photoshop CC, and under Program Files as Photoshop CC (64 Bit). Is there a difference in behaviour depending on which one I open.

Curt Y Jun 26, 2013 7:47 AM (in response to buidlmacha)THe first is 32 bit (max use of 4 g of RAM) and the latter 64 bit to allow up to 128? g of ram.

buidlmacha Jun 26, 2013 10:42 AM (in response to Curt Y)Thanks, that explains it!
First time I used CC, it must have opened in the 32 bit version.I
I write it off to "how to confuse the enemy" (customer).

bob frost Jun 26, 2013 12:28 PM (in response to buidlmacha)Having read a few similar posts, I've renamed the 32bit photoshop.exe so that it can't 'accidentally' run! In CS6 we used to have the option of not installing the 32bit version; we don't seem to have that ability in CC. Why?

9. Re: Why has PS CC out of RAM issues for same operation handled ok in CS6
Noel Carboni Jun 28, 2013 5:37 AM (in response to bob frost)You should examine (and adjust) your work practices so that you can be sure of what version of Photoshop you're running. That may mean putting two icons on the desktop (I do that) so that you can specifically choose which you want to run.
The continued ability to run the 32 bit variant is greatly appreciated by people who have older plug-ins they just can't get in 64 bit builds. I hadn't noticed that the choice of whether or not to install it is no longer provided. That's interesting.

10. Re: Why has PS CC out of RAM issues for same operation handled ok in CS6
MATSATI Jun 29, 2013 1:06 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)I am having the same problem about out of memory issues. I am running indesign cc on Windows 7, 4 Mb ram on my laptop system. My desktop system is a quad core intell processor, 6 Mg ram, windows 7. I am having the same memory issues, runs out of memory with very small file open in indesign.
Two different systems indesign eats up the memory.
Any suggestions?

Chris Cox Jun 29, 2013 1:11 PM (in response to MATSATI)You probably should post in the InDesign forum, not the Photoshop forum.

MATSATI Jun 29, 2013 1:23 PM (in response to Chris Cox)Chris,
I just posted in the indesign forum, thxs. I commented since it looks like this may be a common issue across the CC release.

13. Re: Why has PS CC out of RAM issues for same operation handled ok in CS6
Chris Cox Jun 29, 2013 2:32 PM (in response to MATSATI)Please read the previous posts -- this was just people confusing the 32 bit application (that is limited to about 3 Gig) with the 64 bit application. That is not something "common to CC", and the CC apps don't even share much code.

14. Re: Why has PS CC out of RAM issues for same operation handled ok in CS6
Trevor.Dennis Jun 29, 2013 2:50 PM (in response to Chris Cox)Chris, a lot of people are making this mistake with CC. Are the two versions not labelled the same way as previous versions? I'm sure it was clear which version you were opening with CS6 and CS5.

15. Re: Why has PS CC out of RAM issues for same operation handled ok in CS6
Chris Cox Jun 29, 2013 4:18 PM (in response to Trevor.Dennis)They're labelled the same way AFAIK.
