im doing my first project iin aafter effects using cineware and an cinema 4D model. if i render in cinema 4D this would take me no more than 2 hours. i am now doing it in after effects CC and its going to take 17 hours.... that is a big diferance.
is it really soposed to take longer?
i have tried a few smaller projects and i have noticed it takes longer in after effects but i didt think it would be this longer.
i am using a mac i5 with 16 gig ram. and a SSD HDD.
What else is in your Comp? If this is just a single layer using a single C4D model I would expect similar render times. If your AE Comp has a bunch of other layers and a bunch of effects then an increase in render time is almost certainally guaranteed.
Another factor may be your ram and render settings. Are you sure that you are not starving C4D's rendering engine by devoting way to much memory to AE?
In addition to what Rick said, also consider that splicing out stuff using the multipass features in Cineware will add overhead by passing more buffers back and forth plus possibly entailing extra render evaluations in the 3D renderer itself.
