Trouble downloading Adobe Flash Player

I have attempted to download Adobe Flash Player ten times (8 times through the Internet Explorer and 2 times with Chrome) and am unsuccessful each time. Every time it gets about 50% it tells me to close internet explorer. I've tried and retried numreous times and it still tells me to close it. I'm very frustrated! Please tell me what I can do to get Adobe Flash Player. Please don't tell me the same thing the trouble shooting site did because it didn't work. I've scanned my computer twice for viruses and it came up with zero. I don't know what to do.
