Why on earth would you want to freeze someone's system? That sounds
pretty evil. You really shouldn't do that. There are plenty of ways to
do it, just spend some time looking at virus writing tutorials on the
web. Windows is very easy to crash. But I wouldn't recommend doing it
ever. It isn't nice. You don't ever have the right to crash someone's
computer unless it is your own (and crashing your own system on purpose
is just dumb).
You can reboot a system using BuddyAPI- it has a command 'baExitWindows'
that will let you reboot, restart windows, log off of windows, shut
down, or power off the system. I believe it is Windows only, but I have
never tried it on a Mac.
maybe he's looking for the cause of big crashes on his app' ?
Is this for a mac or pc? It's a lot easier to do on a mac.

Dunno if its evil (its a documented function)
-- Lingo syntax
Obviously not available in Shockwave.
'Freezing' a computer might be evil... but many people installed Windows ME anyway
Thanks for your reviews and replies. Basicallt i want to implement this function into my application only beucase, my applicaiton uses and edit some registry values from the user's system and if someone tries to change those values then my application freezes the user's system or restarts immediately.
This is why i wanted to know. But anyways, thanks a lot for this guys.

Why not just have the program quit and not run if the reg values are
changed? I can understand wanting to annoy people trying to pirate your
software, but a force reboot or a system freeze is just a bit excessive.
It's easy enough to make the program just not run without crashing your
computer. Just call a "halt" on the startMovie if the reg values have been
tampered with. Bam, no program for you. Much better than actually forcing
the whole system to crash.
