Chris Cox Jun 29, 2013 12:12 PM (in response to Ceencha)There are dozens of ways you could do that in Photoshop, usually with fewer steps.
The two most obvious:
1) Copy the image to a layer mask (giving you the transparency), and replace the image content with your color
2) Add a B&W adjustment layer, colorize (whichever adjustment layer you prefer), add levels/curves/whatever adjustments you wish to make -- without going through transparency or a file save
