Flash Player/windows 8

I keep getting errors telling me to install latest flash player on certain web sites.  I go to install and it says I already have it.  I have done the things stated on web site but with no success.  I am very new to windows 8, so can someone please "dumb" it down on how to resolve this issue.  Thanks.
