Please give us more information.
What operating system are you using? Are you using the 32-bit or 64-bit operating system, and are you trying to install the 32-bit or 64-bit version of the program?
If you are using a Windows machine, have you manually gone to Windows Update and installed the optional updates that don't install automatically?
Are you installing from a download or a disc? If from a download, have you ensured you've extracted the .zip file and that you're not trying to install from inside the Zip file?
My computer is new. It is a 64 bit Acer R7 running windows 8.
To be honest I don't know what I downloaded from Adobe or recall ever having a choice to make.
Based on what I am seeing I think I must have downloaded a 32 bit version.
I purchased and downloaded the program from Adobe on line so I do not have any discs.
Can you tell me how to download the 64 bit instead of the 32 bit?
If you receive an error message during install... what does it say?
essentially it says that the download isnt compatible with my computer and that I need to download the 64 bit program.
I wish I could screen shot it to you but I do not know my way around the windows 8 very well.
It does ask if I am installing from a disc or a download and it tells me if from a disc to use the prem64 setup file but I do not have a file like that or see one anyway
I would like to add to the comments with a few questions and suggestion for you to consider along with the rest.
1. At this point, do you have a purchased serial number in hand? If so, I would imagine that you could repeat the download making sure that you have designated the correct computer operating system, and, when asked for a purchased serial number, type in the one that you have before you.
2. If the situation has gotten out of control and confusing, then best discuss your status with Adobe Chat for starters. The following link should be helpful for that purpose.
Please let us know the outcome.
I don't download large programs (I like to have a disc on the shelf) so I am not familiar with the exact Adobe screen(s) but I think you need to go back to your Adobe account page and download the 64bit version
Since I am not familiar with the Adobe screen(s) you may want to check with Adobe

Meantime, try downloading the "trial" from this page.
The page will likely scan your system and see that it is Windows 7/8 64-bit and you will then download the 64-bit version. Per ATR, you can then use the serial number that was provided at the time of your purchase to register and activate the product.
