Why is my InDesign document placing my images with anchor points?

My InDesign document is placing .tif images with anchored points and not displaying the whole image. My image basically looks like a vector image and not an actual photo. When I click on the image with my direct select tool, the entire image is faded out, but only the part of the image that it is displaying is anchored. To see the entire image I have to remove the points using the pen tool.

I re-saved my images multiple different ways thinking that it might be a way I saved my layered image, but nothing helped. Is there a way I can turn this feature off in Indesign? Or save my image in Photoshop a certain way to make it stop doing this?
