just a shot in the dark here, but doesn't the library need to be compiled for x64?
Thanks for replying. Since InDesign CC is installed with both 32 and 64 bit versions, are you saying I would need to do the same? I don't suppose you know how to compile c++ in x64? It doesn't show as an option in Visual Studio.
Did you solve the "I/O Error"? I got the same error on mac. I tried to build the example project in xcode 5 with mac os x 10.9 as the base sdk, the sdk is 64 bit. I don't konw how to solve this problem.
Hi Zhiqiang_Li <http://forums.adobe.com/people/Zhiqiang_Li> ,
Yes, I got this working some time ago. I am not a mac user but perhaps the general principle is the same:
In Windows 64, if your application is compiled 64bit then you can only access InDesign 64bit and its object library. However if your app is 32 bit then you can only access InDesign 32bit and its object library.
Sorry I don’t know more about the mac. All of our users (200+) use InDesign for windows so of course our app is also windows based. Does the mac support both a 32 and 64 bit version of InDesign? If not my solution will not be much help.

Yes, your solution is "THE" solution! Once I change the build setting to 32 bit, the "I/O" error isn't there anymore. For 64 bit application, I need to change the build setting to 64 bit too.
Thank you very much!
