1. Re: Mercury Playback hack not working with CC
cscooper2013 Jul 1, 2013 7:23 PM (in response to VidNoob)You should no longer need the hack. Simply enable hardware acceleration from File > Project Settings > General (Windows version). You'll get a warning that your card is not supported, but Premiere will still use your card. If that doesn't work, close Premiere and then re-open and then check that the change stuck.
If that's still not working, there may be another issue at play.

VidNoob Jul 1, 2013 7:27 PM (in response to cscooper2013)nope its greyed out. =\
I am beginnign to think that maybe its just this particular brand of card that has an issue (it's a Gigabyte brand, they are a good MFG but who knows...)

3. Re: Mercury Playback hack not working with CC
cscooper2013 Jul 1, 2013 7:35 PM (in response to VidNoob)Silly question: Do you have the latest drivers for your card?
-
4. Re: Mercury Playback hack not working with CC
VidNoob Jul 1, 2013 7:41 PM (in response to cscooper2013)No, like I said above if I go past that driver version the hack wont even work in CS6 anymore. Something is definitely different after 296.10. It's the one driver I narrowed down to be the last working.

5. Re: Mercury Playback hack not working with CC
VidNoob Jul 1, 2013 7:42 PM (in response to VidNoob)And yes I have tried the lastest drivers for the card, this causes the hack to no longer work in CS6 and it will not work in CC

That's not true. I use the same card with 320.18 fine. (In both CS6 and CC7.) If that driver doesn't work for you, something else is wrong.

7. Re: Mercury Playback hack not working with CC
VidNoob Jul 2, 2013 1:13 PM (in response to JSS1138)i agree something else is wrong, i just cannot imagine what. There's only so many reasons why one driver will consistently work and then anything beyond that won't. I even used Driver Fusion to completely delete all traces of Nvidia out of mty registry the last time I uninstalled and then reinstalled the new drivers thinking something had to0 have been left in there that's screwing with it.

13. Re: Mercury Playback hack not working with CC
VidNoob Jul 3, 2013 3:52 PM (in response to shooternz)Yep it is, i just copy pasted the file over from the CS6 folder.
FYI when you run GPUsniffer.exe in the CS6 folder using 291.10 drivers, you get this screen:
It shows the card as detected.
When you run it in CC using the 296.10 driver OR when you run it in CS6 with a driver greater than 296.10, you get this:

JSS1138 Jul 4, 2013 10:56 AM (in response to VidNoob)Maybe you have a bad card. Like I said, I have the same one and it's been working fine with every driver since I installed it.

20. Re: Mercury Playback hack not working with CC
VidNoob Jul 4, 2013 11:00 AM (in response to JSS1138)yeah, just lends more creedence to my thought that there is something indeed up with the card itself. Wonder if its still udner warranty.. Though that will leave me computerless for who knows how long, so really not worth RMAing till i can afford a new card and then ship this one out to at least have for backup or for an entire new system build.

SteveHoeg Jul 4, 2013 11:30 AM (in response to JSS1138)Premiere Pro CC requires drivers newer than 300 for CUDA acceleration (311.50 suggested). GPU-Z there is still showing 296.

25. Re: Mercury Playback hack not working with CC
VidNoob Jul 4, 2013 11:36 AM (in response to SteveHoeg)Hi Steve, I understand, the thing is that CC nor CS6 will not work with Mercury enabled even with the hack using anything higher than 296.10. It looks mroe and mroe like this is something to do with the specific card or brand being GPU-Z is saying that Physx isnt even available on the card and that CUDA is there only with 296.10 and not the later drivers. I dont udnerstand how CUDA can be there and then not be there depending on drivers. it's hard coded into the device. Odd stuff, just most likely going to chalk it up to a weird GPU. Going to contact Gigabyte customer service and see what they say.
