    Font Size incorrect

    PurplePlumUK Level 1

      (InDesign 8.0.1 - Mac 10.7.5)

Problem: I've a style set up specifying a size of 76pt. Some text pasted in from Apple Mail with the style assigned is 60pt. There's no '+' sign against the style name and when I option+click on the style there is no change.

      What I've investigated:

      I've checked the preferences:

      • "when pasting" - "paste text only" is checked.
      • "when scaling" - "apply to object" is checked ("Adjust percentage scaling" I find nonesensical so don't work with it).

Is there something else that might be creating this false text sizing?

      Hope you can help.

I recently updated the adobe suite using the manager, but didn't think it had changed InDesign. I'm not aware of having this problem before (except with "Adjust percentage scaling") so whether the update has changed a collective resource?

      Hope you can help

      Thank you.

In cases like this it's usually a character style that has also been applied, and that overrides the paragraph style.

Oh you're a gem. Spot on. I rarely, very rarely, use Character styles. Thank you, it was doing my head-in.

Might seem unrelated, but suspect this is how it happens. (I know this character style will not have been applied to a top line). Set up three lines of text, each in a different style - tripple click to select the whole of the middle line and begin retyping. It will adopt the style from below because tripple clicking selects the return too.

Thanks for taking the time, very much appreciated, I'd have hunted about for that for forever.
