Problems Installing Flash

I have tried to install Flash several times without success. I keep getting messages stating that I need to install Flash.  I've followed the steps/ instructions in the "help" section. It hasn't resolved the problem. I am on a Mac OS X 10.6. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
