I am running Adobe CS6 on PC windows 7. i7 processor, 16gb ram, Nvidia GTX 670. Software is running on a SSD. Everything works great, except that anytime I try to import an mov file - such as those downloaded from Videoblocks, the program says "File Import Failure" "The program reported a generic import error."
I have been researching this issue online for a week, and this is incredibly frustrating as this is a widely used file type. These files open fine on my computer using Windows media player, quicktime and VLC player - just not in premiere. Here are the steps I've taken so far:
1.)Uninstalled and reinstalled quicktime.
2.)Unistalled and reinstalled Adobe Production Premium
4.)Identified the codec as Motion Jpeg
5.)Tried the demo of Main Concept's motion jpeg codec
6.)Tried the demo of Morgan Multimedia'a motion jpeg codec.
The only thing I can think of is is to transcode the footage... but I shouldn't have to since this isn't a weird codec... it's used on all the stock footage sites. Not to mention I'd have to transcode hundreds of files.
Welcome to the forum.
As a test, I would just change the file extension, MOV, to AVI, and try the Import again. If that does not help, change that file extension to .MPEG, and test.
