    TOC Structure Problem

    ezee_beee
      Hi,

I am using RH X5 and creating HTML Help.

I have a Master project and a few Child projects. In TOC, if i have a Book and two Child projects under it. After generating, the Master project, the second Child project gets merged with the first Child project.

      For eg:
Before generating the Master project, if i have :
      Book1
      CPrj1
      Book1
      Book2
      CPrj2
      Book1

After generating the Master project, it looks like the following:

      Book1
      CPrj1
      Book1
      CPrj2
      Book2

      Pls suggest...

          Hi ezee

I think you are seeing a long standing issue with compiled help and merges. It used to be that a bug existed with merged TOC and compiled .CHM. RoboHelp HTML used to correctly handle the merge by inserting extra code that overcame the issue. Then at some point it broke again. Now I'm not sure if RoboHelp stopped implementing the fix or if Microsoft finally corrected the issue on their side and the RoboHelp "fix" made it break. I suspect it's the latter, because I've seen many reports that if you move RoboHelp out of the picture and compile using the basic Microsoft HTML Help Workshop (HHW), the TOC books nest up just as you would expect. So I'd give that a try. Compile using HHW and see if the problems melt away.

          Cheers... Rick
