    CS6 Crashes on Open, Mac 10.8.4

      Tried opening Illustrator today after updating Mac OS security yesterday.  All I'm getting are crashes on AI after the splash screen.

      I saw a similar link on Illustrator CC suggesting a Java update, but the link to that update no longer exists as a download. Apple removed it.

          system preferences >> other >> java >> update

           

          Java 7 Update 25 is most current (At this time)

           

          if that does fix illustrator try resetting your preferfences, and later try booting illustrator with shift down.

            Hi Mike.  I'm having trouble seeing this Other option in Mac system preferences.  I don't have an other category in my system pref panel in 10.8.4.   The latest download from Apple is Java SE 6 to version 1.6.0_51   but I think that is the version I have installed with yesterday's update.   I don't have a java applet I can find on my computer to check it's independent version number...

             

            However, holding down shift did allow me to boot AI...

              I can boot with shift key down, BUT the program is unusable when I do.  Nothing seems to work and when I open a file it says something about stroke overlay plugin not working and things can't be modified.  The programs is completely unresponsive.

               

              AI has turned into a doorstop.

               

              BTW, I updated to Java 7 and it did NOT help

                Updated CS6 today and it opened for me once, with an error message about 10 included plugins (from Adobe) not loading properly.  I tried to export to FXG and it crashed and now crashes every time again:
