Mike Gondek2 Jul 8, 2013 10:48 AM (in response to Limbo Design)Since the "T" is not showing, are you possibly trying to sample a symbol.

4. Re: Eyedropper not formatting text
Limbo Design Jul 8, 2013 10:49 AM (in response to Limbo Design)Addendum to earlier post. So, now, I have one set of text, Myraid and another set of text, Gotham. I can change the Gotham to Myriad, but I can't change the Myriad to Gotham.
The tool shows up correctly going one way, but not changing text the other way.....

Kurt Gold Jul 8, 2013 10:54 AM (in response to Limbo Design)Which version of Illustrator are you using?

7. Re: Eyedropper not formatting text
Limbo Design Jul 8, 2013 10:57 AM (in response to Kurt Gold)Illustrator CC. I've been using Illustrator daily since version 10. This one is weird unless they changed the procedure or it is restrictive to a certain set of fonts.

8. Re: Eyedropper not formatting text
Mike Gondek2 Jul 8, 2013 10:59 AM (in response to Limbo Design)Relax, noone is thinking that.
My myriad and gotham work fine both ways. Have you tried restarting your computer, and with 2 different fonts. You may have a font or memory corruption.

10. Re: Eyedropper not formatting text
Limbo Design Jul 8, 2013 11:06 AM (in response to Monika Gause)Ok, so problem solved after copying and pasting text to a different document, the type tool worked correctly with the same fonts. Went back to my document and found I had a locked, visible, psd file with transparancy layer on top of the Gotham text.
The text, I could still highlight and edit, even though it was behind the locked layer which was confusing me, not thinking it was a layer issue and not looking there first. The eyedropper won't pick the font characteristics up through a locked layer
Mike apologies, that is a noob mistake.

Mike Gondek2 Jul 8, 2013 11:25 AM (in response to Limbo Design)No worries, if that is a noob mistake, guess I am one too, as that happened to me before.
Glad you got this resolved, and thanks for sharing what happened.
