1. Re: Path within path - how to turn into selection
R_Kelly Jul 8, 2013 1:04 PM (in response to Bent Nielsen)What version of photoshop are you using?
You should be able to just select the outer square path with the Path Selection Tool or Direct Selection Tool and make a selction of only the square path.
Are these shape layers or just paths?
You might post a screenshot.

Bent Nielsen Jul 8, 2013 1:33 PM (in response to R_Kelly)Photoshop CC.
Please see enclosed image. What I want to do is to turn paths into selection into mask, leaving only area "A" as active, whereas areas "B" and "C" should remain untouched.
In CS7 I could make these two selections, choose Path/Make Selection/Operation and then select from Add, Subtract/Intersect - when I do this in CC, only path "B" is turned into selection.

JJMack Jul 8, 2013 1:44 PM (in response to R_Kelly)R_Kelly is correct here is an example I have a complex work path 12 ovals paths. I used the direct selection tool to select one of the ovals. You can see which one by the handles. I then right clicked to bring up the available options and clicked make selection, The middle image shown the result, I then deselected the work path in the path pallet. Result is right image.
