Moving this discussion to the Premiere Elements forum.
Welcome to the forum.
When you chose to Add Media>DVD Camera, did you check to Create Instant Movie?
I am not quite sure what you want to capture from the DVD's (are those mini-DVD's), and what is not working for you. Can you furnish more details, please.
How are they now on the DVD? Can we assume in the DVD-VIDEO format?
What version of Premiere Elements are you using, presumed on Windows 7 64 bit?
For now, I am assuming version 11. If so and if you have DVD-VIDEO format on DVD disc, you can rip the VOBs from that disc after placing the disc in the burner tray by using Add Media/DVD camera or Computer Drive/Video Importer.
Then I suggest that you use from Project Assets the Preview Window with its Set In and Set Out to trim your video. Please refer to the latter process as I have described in my blog post.
Please do not hesitate to ask for clarification for anything that I have written.
