Waht is the EXACT error message?
Are trying to open them inside the email? Or did you first save the attachments out of the email to a folder you have permissions to, like in a folder in My Documents?
You will have to have the other person zip the files before emailing.
sorry, i'm not new to computer work. we tried everything. sent as zip, exportet in separate folders, versions in indesign cs4 and cs6 and idml etc.
the exact error message reads:
"The File is not existing oder is used by another Application or you don't have the proper rights to open it."
and yes, i opened it as admin on pc and with indesign opened with admin rights. an i gave the file all rights to be opened...
As previously mentioned, the files must be extracted from any archive and saved to a hard drive location before you open it. I have seen this error message once or twice in the past with a file that should have opened (stored on a network drive, which may have played a role), I think. They didn't happen to also include the .idlk file with what they sent? If so, delete it.
Have you tried clicking the "As a Copy" radio button inthe open dialog to make a new, untitled copy? If that works you can save with a new name and move on.
