We are the midst of a server upgrade and consolidation project and we have to move all of Marketing's Creative Suite files to a new server. The potential impact / fall-out of this move is the breaking of file links within each document that Marketing has created. Does anyone know of an easy or fast way to rename all the file links, mainly we are going to keep the main path name with the exception of the server name which will change. Some of their InDesign files have at least 10 to 20 file links to various folders and location. We are wanting to minimize any tedious work that may be involved in the move process.
Really the best way is to make sure your server doesn't change names across upgrades...
I assume you're OK with dealing with this once for each InDesign file, and you're not looking for a batch solution that processes multiple InDesign documents?
We were hoping we didn't have to change server names but we had to choose bewtween two and chose the one with the most use / activity. We were leaning on the hope of a batch file to help simplify things but it sounds like it may be more trouble than it's worth. Talked to support and they added the possibility of file corruption even if after moved and updated.
