What's the best way to preview a development site as it would be to the public and not with the sidekick present on a CQ5.6 dev instance? As I've been using the site preview which works fine on desktop but on mobile it's quiet difficult. It would be nice to be able to serve up the site as it would appear to the public but I'm not aware of how to do this without removing the sidekick JS from the template code which is a little awkward.
You could start a separate cq Publish instance. Simply copy the quickstart jar and licence.properties into another directory and rename it to cq5-publish-p4503.jar. Move your current code and content to that instance via packagemanager or replication and then you will be able to view your site without any of the WCM author features.
you can reverse proxy cq from an apache server and use a rewrite rule to add ?wcmmode=disabled for all .html requests - that will turn off the editing functionality/sidekick or you could add a filter that injects the wcmmode=disabled if the site is accessed through a different domain name.
