    Creating clearer image

    Derek Snyder
Could anyone learn me a way to make the music image clearer on this page (the music score)?

      http://cellocelli.com/

I have converted the music both as a tiff & as an eps. When it ends up as a png it isn’t very clear. I have a feeling that there is a way to make it look a bit better. I realize that this must be a very basic procedure. Thanks for any guidance!

I also need the final dimensions to be 465x197. I was able to crop the final png that is seen on the site but is there an easy way to crop using a property dialog or something? I may have done it thru the image size or canvas size box. I also was working both in Photoshop & Fireworks for this. Would one be better than the other for this application?

here are the source files if you'd like to see them:

      THANKS!

It's easier to do it than to explain it. :-)

See if you think this is better. I redid the text at the top to make it
          more readable.

Linda, you are the bomb! That is perfectly better! Everything is readable. Thanks.
Any details that you could give me as to how you did such a beautiful thing would be put to use by me. Or point me to something to study.

Do you use the Marquee tool to highlight certain areas and then something else for added crispness? The text is 100% more readable - I see that you resized it a bit - but so is everything else. Which image did you work from? Eps or tiff? Does it matter....Fireworks all the way? Or Fireworks + Photoshop.

Anyhow if you are able to give me any sort of list of tools/steps to experiment, I'll see what I can learn.
(I've got a bunch of Fireworks books, etc...but this seems more specific than what they focus on)

Thanks again, I'm off to replace my old ugly image.

I just realized that I need to adjust the image size to 460x170 (I had thought 465x197) I did this before by erasing small amounts of unneeded image, moving things w/ the marquee and a bit of cropping. Anything generally or specifically I should know that might help? I know it's much easier to do than to show/tell!

              thanks...

PS http://www.projectseven.com/index.htm looks like a great resource. Thanks.

I rescaled it in Microsoft Document imaging, then opened it in Fireworks
to refine the size and sharpen it. I painted out the old text, and then
typed in the new text. To make the image slightly darker, I cloned it,
added the multiply blend mode to the clone Because it was too dark,
                reduced its opacity to 50%.

                The TIFF file.

There are extra white pixels all the way around, so you should be able
to crop it without loosing any of the good stuff.

                    Hi Linda,
I'm trying to apply your techniques to more music images and having difficulties.
                    quote:

                    1. Not finding how to rescale in Microsoft Imaging!? Shouldn't be hard but I can see any rescale options.
                    2. I'm getting error messages when trying to open or import the .tiff or .tif file into Fireworks. Any thoughts?
                    Thanks for the help!
