Help me out here guys! Just got into video editing (music videos, skateboarding, pornography) and i'm in love with it! However i've been using my sister-in-law's mac to edit, and i think it's time to purchase my own laptop.

I have  $450 dollar budget and i've narrowed it down to these two:

      http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP---Pavilion-17.3%26%2334%3B-Laptop---4GB-Memory---750GB-Hard -Drive---Sparkling-Black/9226052.p?id=1219004831295&skuId=9226052

      http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung---Series-3-15.6%26%2334%3B-Laptop---4GB-Memory---500GB -Hard-Drive---Black/8965044.p?id=1218957868803&skuId=8965044

Which one should i run with? Also, i'm not opposed to other devices as long as their not desktops and under $450!

      Thanks in advance xx

For that amount you won't get a lot of laptop for ediing it just too intense. However, you can do okay if you have room for expantion: For RAM 8GB should be the minimum although Premiere will work with half that. If it can hold 16GB, its even better.

If you edit AVCHD (a cpu intensive codec) you need a fast CPU (i5). And if you do a lot of effects you will need a good graphics card which is by far the greatest limitation to a laptop. Neither is typically in a consumer laptop of that class. You should do okay for a while, but you're likely to outgrow it as quickly as you did your sister-in-law's Mac. Good luck.
