A single hard drive for video editing is not going to work very well
My 3 hard drives for video editing are configured as...
1 - 320Gig Boot for Win7 64bit Pro and ALL program installs
2 - 320Gig data for Win7 paging swap file and video project files
When I create a project on #2 drive, the various work files follow,
so my boot drive is not used for the media cache folders and files
3 - 1Terabyte data for all video files... input source & output export files
At the very least, 2 drives... 320/500 for Windows and all programs and 1T for projects and video files
As far as the GPU... CS6 uses nVidia to great advantage... CC uses some ATI/AMD cards as well... click the big red A at the top left and navigate to the Premiere Pro information page, and then select specifications for a list of supported PProCC cards
Thank you !
I'll see what we can do with hard drives... that will increase the price a bit, but it should run better that way.
Any other advice ?
Video editing puts a lot of stress on the CPU... if that case has a place for optional fans... add them... especially in the side so air is blown directly onto the nVidia card and the CPU
The computer I built is described in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/652694 with a fan added every place there was a case mounting... two in the side
I am not familiar with the Intel 4770K so also be sure you have a good CPU cooler/fan
The good news is that as far as outfitting a system is concerned video editing and gaming are closely related. About 90% of what gaming needs can be directed to video editing. One exception would be in RAM, where for VE, the sky is the limit.
If I were you, I would chose the Nvidia card, seems like good bang for the buck.
Thanks a lot for all the informations, they will be useful !
>One exception would be in RAM
Two exceptions... video editing with only one hard drive will not make for a happy user... absolute minimum is two 7200rpm hard drives... or SSD boot and 1T drive for projects and video files
Outside your budget, but a lot of people use the Samsung 840 Pro 128Gig SSD for a boot/software drive
