Sometimes I'll select the text tool and click on text, or double click on the text and try to delete/backspace/add text and nothing seems to work.
Is there something specific you need to be doing in order to enable text? It's very frustrating because I'm not sure what I'm doing that locks me out, and I have no idea what allows me to do actually start using my keyboard again. Sometimes I switch between the selection tool. Sometimes I double click on the page I'm working on... sometimes I just ignore it and go work on something else and come back and it hapepns to let me edit the text.
What am I doing wrong?!
Try to reverting to InDesign defaults by: hold down Command-Option-Shift-Control (on the Mac OS) or Ctrl-Alt-Shift (in Windows) as you start InDesign.
it may help
This didn't work.
I think I've narrowed it down a little bit more... When I click on another program (for instance a PDF in Adobe Reader, a browser page, etc) and I click back into InDesign, it locks up the keyboard for some reason.
I've also noticed that if I save the document it unlocks it so that I can type and move boxes again.
It's still a bit annoying and either seems like a bug or something I'm doing wrong... any suggestions?
Snce you haven't told us either the OS or the version of ID we can't tell you much more...
