Kranex1 Jul 19, 2013 1:04 PM (in response to chande a k)MiniTool Power Data Recovery 6.6 tool. I'm sure there're many other software but that's the one I used to recover all my files I deleted intact. That's assuming the drive hasn't sent been used and there are no other anomalies you didn't mention.
If the files didn't open there was probably something needed that was not recovered. You might also try opening it on another system.

Unfortunately, a week of work will have created and deleted MANY temporary work files... and there is no way to know where those files were placed... other than the "usual" Windows practice of any available space
At least part(s) of your file have very likely been over-written by temp files... I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that is just the way I understant that Windows works

In fact, make two! Then send them each on their merry way in two different directions. That's common practice (to prevent such catastrophes) in the industry.

Stephen_Spider Jul 21, 2013 3:42 PM (in response to chande a k)It may be a lost cause. Sorry.
Does the guy who is working to recover the files know that he is looking for .MTS FILES, none larger than 2GB? The AVCHD will be a Directory or Folder, not a file.
Everyone makes mistakes. You should develop habits that make it harder to sabotage yourself with a simple mistake. Good file management is a big part of post production.
I know that doesn't help your problem today, but I fear there may be no good answer. Please update this thread if you get your project up and running again. Good luck.

chande a k Jul 22, 2013 12:57 AM (in response to Stephen_Spider)Yes Stephen, I have given all the information about Video file., and have shown my other file in my external hard disk., and that it is about 20GB of deleted file..
Anyhow this is my costly mistake.
Job to recover deleted Video file was given to very reputable firm, who claim they can recover data - video etc., from Hard disk, which has even formated after deleting the file., but in my case they fail
Generally I download my Video file in two computers, but in this particular case this was not done. very costly lesson to learn

14. Re: How to recover Deleted file from HARD DISK
markjohson12 Oct 7, 2013 3:28 AM (in response to progressive learner)You never know whether the files are really overwritten, you need to try some data recovery program and then only then you knows about it. you may follow some step by step guide: hard drive data recovery
the good thing is that you do not need technical skills and you just need to follow the step by step guide.
If the files are really overwritten, then it's gone.

17. Re: How to recover Deleted file from HARD DISK
ankitsajwan1210 Jan 14, 2014 6:32 AM (in response to syscoware)The best and easy solution to recover deleted files is to use some data recovery software if the data is not available in backup. Otherwise one can also choose previous version option to recover lost data, but in this option the changes made to the file after that can not be recovered. There are some free tools also available to recover lost data like Recuva and TestDisk. One can read more about how to use Recuva from here www.softwaredemons.com/free-tool-to-recover-deleted-data-recuva/

davidheath Jan 26, 2014 10:55 PM (in response to chande a k)Hi, hard disk data loss is actually a hard task for many users 'cause most of them think this kind of problems is a complicated situation. Here are some tips you need to know after data loss happened.
1. If you meet the file loss situation, keep calm and stop using your computer to do any read or write operation until you find the way to recover the lost files because any wrong operation.
2. If you've lost a file, time is of the essence. As new files saved to Mac hard drive or storage devices, the original files gets overwritten. So do not use the drive or disk which your deleted files are stored before at all, until you have completed the scanning and recovery process.
3. The system crashed or the files loss situation happens occasionally, so remember build a backup for the files periodically is strongly needed.
4. If you meet the file loss situation again, stop using the Mac or storage device right now, use another computer to process the files recovery.
5. Remember this, no matter at the normal time or after files recovery, build a backup for the files periodically is the best method to protect your files from data loss situation.

19. Re: How to recover Deleted file from HARD DISK
Steven L. Gotz Jan 27, 2014 6:22 AM (in response to ankitsajwan1210)The best, and easiest solution, is to never lose the data in the first place.
Admittedly, this was easier in the days of tape. We just captured the video and put the tape in a box, carefully orienting it to keep it safe. All we needed was one off site backup and that could be another tape.
Nowadays, in the age of memory cards and cheaper hard drives and online backup services, it is unexcusable to not have at least one backup drive for video, as well as a second backup for off site storage.
Having said that, you might want to consider an automatic backup system so you don't have to remember to do it.

Bill Hunt Jan 31, 2014 9:17 AM (in response to Sulaco)Yes, but with data recovery, that is what happens sometimes. I have found that, under different circumstances, different programs can help more, or less.
I usually first head to my Stellar-Phoenix data recovery suite (seems to be about 90%, if there has been zero overwriting of that sector of the HDD), but have had to go to a few other products, such as a shareware program, Recover My Files. Neither is free, and neither is 100%, but much depends on how much activity that HDD has seen, since the Deletion.
There might be good and useful freeware programs, but I try to stick with what has worked for me in the past - then branch out, should they all fail.
Hope that the OP was able to do some recovery.
Hunt
[Disclaimer - I am not affiliated with either mentioned program, and am but a mostly satisfied user of each.]
