    FindChangeStyles for CC

    ecr1inf

It seems that FindChangeStyles no longer works reliably with CC. The script I have starts :

      tell application "Adobe InDesign CC"

                --

                --Italique > italique

                --Clear the find/change text preferences

set find text preferences to nothing

set change text preferences to nothing

                --Set up your find/change operation

set font style of find text preferences to "Italic"

set position of find text preferences to normal

set applied character style of change text preferences to "italique"

set include footnotes of find change text options to true

                tell document 1

                          tell parent story of selection

                                    change text

                          end tell

                end tell

--Clear the find/change text preferences when you're done.

set find text preferences to nothing

set change text preferences to nothing

                --

                --Bold > gras [as above]

Is there somethere there that needs changing for CC? The script should run on the whole document.

      Many thanks,

          Hi Andrew,

I can't be much help, but from the snippet you've posted, this isn't going to work on the whole document. It explicitly does the change text only to the parent story of the selection, so the result is going to depend on what you have selected.

Thanks, Dave. I wondered about that, and assumed that the "tell document 1" somehow overrode the story selection -- and I assumed that because whatever the script did, it did indeed do it in the entire document.

It's all very weird, and I'm among those who don't like their software weird...

I'm told that Adobe released CC with old scripts that could not function correctly under CC. Adobe's CEO should avoid getting stuck in an elevator with me.

@ecr1inf – did you test them all? Could you make a list of the not working scripts? Both the AppleScripts and the JavaScripts?

Just to add that to my list of bugs involved with InDesign CC v9.0.0. Did not istall it yet…

No, Uwe, just the AS of FindChangeByList and FindChangeStyles (which is not an Adobe script). They worked a bit... There are some angry exchanges on the Apple lists about CC scripting.
