Text or Image- is text a processing burden for AS3?

I am making a Scrabble type of game in foreign language so is it a big processing burden using Flash Action Script 3 to display text constantly on about 7 to 100  actors plus a score board? 

I have the tiles actors as images but they aren't very nice.
