Okay guys, I do highlights of football players and was wondering if there was a way to highlight a certain player to make them stand out from the rest of the team?
I basically need to do this......http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfcH-1iDdyQ
It's probably simple to do but I'm not familiar with AE
AE is not simple. You have to take the time to learn about layers, keyframes, tracking, color correction, applying and keyframes. Once you get a handle on the basics you can start doing things like isolating colors, creating procedural mattes, doing rotoscoping, tracking and then you'll be on your way to doing something like what is shown in your sample video.
Start Here.. Expect to spend a couple of days on your first project unless you can find a specific tutorial that is well produced and written that you can follow.
BTW, if you're really good at Photoshop including creating masks, layers, color control, procedural mattes, color channels, then you have a leg up on a true AE beginner.
I agree with Rick's suggestion, including the set of resources that he linked you to.
Here are a couple of videos that I made that show two different approaches to isolating an area of a moving image for selective application of an effect:
Please, do go through the basic materials that Rick linked you to first so that the more advanced materials make more sense.
