My "general" memory is that the Intel i7 is much faster

jamesp2 Jul 28, 2013 10:11 AM (in response to INTYME1985)Unfortunately, it's older technology. It lacks a 16-bit expansion slot, 8GB RAM isn't anywhere near enough, 600W PSU is way underpowered for two video cards, and a mini-tower doesn't give you much room to expand and could be harder to cool.
If you need the corporate umbrella and the onsite service, you may not have much choice in the matter, but you can get a custom-built 3930K system for about the same price, with exactly what you need, from specialty computer builders. Of course, servicing a custom-built unit means either shipping the unit back or going through warranty returns yourself.

A single CPU Xeon is a waste of money and as jamesp2 said 8 GB of RAM is less tha desirable and the 600 watt power supply is totally inadequte for two GTX 660 cards and the additional disk drives that are necessary and I suspect the power supply is proprietary and therefore not upgradable.
Have ADK configure you a system as John has suggested. What version of Premiere?

Alex - DV411 Jul 30, 2013 12:54 PM (in response to INTYME1985)Great price, awesome base system. May not win drag races - but then you aren't looking for that, are you?
Add memory, add storage, add memory duct, add cardbay fan assembly. Let me know if you need part numbers, I'll look them up.

INTYME1985 Jul 31, 2013 5:35 AM (in response to Alex - DV411)Thanks to all, and I need to tip my hat to HP. I saved the system in my cart and got an actual person email me a few days later offering additioinal help, and a 25% discount if they custom build one.
I also like the Dell T7600, and the Dell outlet, so I have my eye on that.
There is just so much info to wade through.
Thanks again, and have a great day.

Run to ADK or build your own.Either way you can get a much better system for that price.
