Performing a three-point edit
Premiere Pro CS6 Techniques: 26 Three & Four Point Editing
One-, Two-, and Three-Point Editing Techniques
Premiere Pro / Adding clips to sequences
Thank you for the resources, but the problem is that when we set I/O in source and insert/overwrite via program monitor or hotkey the entire clip (not only the section marked by I/O) gets inserted/overwritten into the timeline.
This happens with variout methods of a 3point edit as well as just dragging the footage directly to the timeline.
Are you the instructor?
I'm trying to re-create the problem on another machine but can't seem to make it happen again.
This is the first term we've switched to PP from FCP, so I'm still picking up the nuances of the program. I've been an FCP editor/ instructor for awhile.
I'm guessing i'm just overlooking something silly.
We just went back to the machine it was happening on and the problem dissappeared.
I double checked the timeline again; no errant i/o marks on the timeline to cause the marked source content to change.
We also tried another clip and the problem came back, but then our marks worked correctly as we marked the cip again before inserting it into the edit.
