    I'm losing my audio!

    mentalcase129 Community Member

I'm using AME to convert an mov file to an flv for use in my flash website.  Something I've done several times.  But for some reason when I render it I lose my audio.  I'm not doing anything differently from before.  This is only the second time I've ever encountered this issue but the first time the audio happened to be inconsequential so it didn't really matter.  Now the audio is important.  Any guesses what might be going on here?

I'm guessing that maybe the audio in this particular mov was maybe done with a different codec or something which is maybe making the encoder use a different preset.  But I don't know what to look for or change to make it work.

      Thanks in advance!

Quicktime or VLC player should be able to show you audio codec info for your MOV file.  If you import the MOV to Premiere can you hear audio in the Source monitor?

I'd also double-check that the FLV preset  in AME has "Export Audio" turned on (in Export Settings).

The mov's audio works on the Premiere timeline.  And I definately had export audio checked off, cuz that was what I assumed was the problem initially.

I can't seem to find anything on the audio codec through Quicktime...I'm seeing datarate and all that but no audio codec.  But even if I did I'm not entirely sure what I would make of it unless someone was able to tell me that certain codecs just weren't compaitible with FLV's and what those codecs were.

Is this audio problem with this particular source (MOV) file or have you experienced this with other MOV source files?  Would you try to the same thing with a few other MOV files that you may have on your sytem and make sure your audio is coming through?

Does the  FLV playback with audio in Premiere?  If not, does it have an audio track at all?  Can you play the FLV in VLC player and hear audio?
