I'm doing tickets for a dinner event and the client requested that we number tickets by table. We have tables 1-18, with seats 1-6 at each table. Also, the fields have to appear twice -- at the top of the ticket, and on the bottom tear-away portion. Is there a way I can automate those fields so I don't have to create them all by hand?
Here is the ticket layout:
I figured it was something to do with an Excel merge, so I have an Excel file with two columns: table numbers and seat numbers. But now I'm stuck. All the sequential numbering discussions I've seen have been one field per ticket. I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure this out!
I'm in InDesign CS6 on Windows 8.
Thanks!
Just place the fields twice in their appropriate place. Run the merge. Give it a try. One record per page if your page is set up that way.

Hi Daniel--sorry. I should have put a note in the thread. I made Emily a sample and sent her a PM with a link before rushing off to attend to some things.
