ben_marker Aug 29, 2013 7:19 AM (in response to geoprog)I'm having the same issues... Why have a phonegap export to Android if it doesn't work???

B-ace Dec 12, 2013 8:05 AM (in response to geoprog)I'm having the same issue. Is there a solution yet?
Also, is there extensive documantation to be found on working with the app packager? Only thing there seems to be is this: http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/captivate-app-packager.html and some blog posts. It helped me manage to get an app on my Android device but it doesn't get very deep.

Erik Lord Dec 12, 2013 1:12 PM (in response to geoprog)I've never tried to output a CP project to an Android App myself, but in the interest of trying to help...
Could it be a sound format issue?
How about trying a sample CP project that has a variety of audio files loaded within... .wav, .mp3, and both of varying types (mono, stereo, 96kbps, 128kbps, 16 bit, 22khz, 44khz....)
Then publish a couple versions, each with different, overall CP audio publish settings (high quality, etc)
And see if any of those work...?
Perhaps its simply an issue of Android audio format support...
...or its indeed a flaw in the Android-app publishing process...

5. Re: Using Captivate 7 app packager, Android sound is muted
ben_marker Dec 13, 2013 6:42 AM (in response to Erik Lord)I have confirmed that the audio files play back natively... I have even gone in and converted them to OGGs and updated the captivate .js files associated with the mp3s. See:http://forums.adobe.com/message/5396809
Kind of frustrated, I think this description needs an overhaul.
"Adobe Captivate App Packager is a cross-platform application that helps you enrich Adobe Captivate HTML5 content by embedding animations created in Adobe Edge Animate or any other HTML5 authoring tool. This application also helps you package the courses as native apps for multiple devices and platforms using the Adobe Phone Gap Service."
Also seems odd to be tailoring your mobile exports to a company that basically killed Flash... [end of vent]

scampyboy Jan 11, 2014 3:52 PM (in response to ben_marker)Hi,
Can we have some official response to this issue please? I have developed an app to help children learn to read, that needs sound.
I am using Captivate 7 and the App Packager with PhoneGap Build I have updated the settings of the App Packager to use PhoneGap Build version 2.9.
But when I run the app on an Android device (The new Nexus 7 or my Samsung S3) there is no sound at all.
I purchased Captivate because it claimed it was easy to publish apps to Android. I feel I have been duped!
Any updates anywhere?
Kindest regards
Mark

Stephen Berry Jan 20, 2014 6:55 AM (in response to scampyboy)Hi
I am having the same problem. Can the ADOBE team please at least give us a a "work around" to make audio play on Android Apps - built through PhoneGap. I'm happy to modify the .js files and convert from mp3 to ogg if neccessary. Just please give us a workaround to make the App Packager function as advertised.
Thanks
Steve

NeilHoskins Mar 17, 2014 10:54 AM (in response to geoprog)Me too, and it's a potential show-stopper. We bid for this project on the basis of being able to package for mobile devices using App Packager; now we discover it's really limited. Adobe: could you PLEASE put more people onto App Packager as it's potentially very powerful but at the moment simply doesn't do what it should.

jdorozco Sep 10, 2014 2:08 PM (in response to geoprog)We have the same issue. We are building guides for training poor farmers in agricultural topics in Latin America for an NGO and we selected Captivate for the same reasons, it was supposed to work on Android but we can't find a way to make the audio work.
This is frustrating, can we have an official answer from Adobe?
Also note this topic has been open for several months!!!

NeilHoskins Sep 29, 2014 12:44 AM (in response to burin.k)It looks to me that none of the new features in Cp8 have been tested in App Packager. I've come to the conclusion that App Packager / PhoneGap Build has been left to wither on the vine and am no longer accepting contracts that require this route. I may continue to use it for hobby projects, but certainly not for anything commercial. Anybody finding this thread... DO NOT use this approach for a commercial project.

NeilHoskins Sep 29, 2014 3:56 AM (in response to burin.k)The final straw for me was when the Windows Phone 8 version of my app stopped working following the Lumia Cyan OS update. The response of PhoneGap Build support was, "Not our problem".
