    getUrl

    janst Level 1
      Why can't I use ../ for getUrl?

I am very frustrated with this... I want to test my site locally without having to change all the links...

      Thank you!

You should be able to. I use relative paths all the time.

Your URL needs to be a string, so wrap it in quotes. Let me know if
          that does it for you.

I know this is a very simple question, but does anyone know what I need to do here? Do I have to type in the full local filepath to test and then go through every swf and change all the links to the final destination file path?

Is there a quicker way to test?

            Thanks...

I am a bit overwhelmed with work right now...

              how about:

              getURL("./pages/citicard.html", "_blank");

              ...

I guess I can just dump everything into one folder so I don't have to use ../ until I find out the ActionScript that replaces the../ code... I like having neat folders for everything ... I like organization so I can see everything clearly... I guess I'll have it live in chaos

So frustrated and have very little time...

The problem is that when I use ../ I get an error from Flash 8.

you were missing the quotes and the blank statement.... that's more important than the two dots or one dot. you can use either or.

I still get the error using the blank statement... The error is on the ../

It was the "quotes".... I should have just looked at one of my other working websites... For some reason, I was blanking on the quotes...

It's going to be a long day!

Thank you so much for looking at this for me. I REALLY appreciate it!!!

you opening a file like an image or and html page?

if you are typing getURL in the actons panel look at it's requirements. you must have a string of what to open then how, blank, parent or whatever page.

also looking in the help docs is easy. highlight getURL and hit F1 for help.
