Platform, codec, Director version, QuickTime version?
Weve tried different codec combos of Sorenson 3, mpeg 4 simple profile and (Audio) qdesign and AAC. Director version is 10.1. Quicktime version is 6.5.2 is on Director computer. However this project must be compatible with MAC (X and Classic)/windows 98 thru XP along with multiple versions of quicktime.
Does the video synch properly when played in the standalone QuickTime
Yes, it does.
Can you upload a /small/ video file that exhibits this issue somewhere?
Unfortunately, I can't upload it. It's copyright sensitive material. But basically it plays fine on it's own but goes out of sync in Director. We're stumped here. We've done the same exact thing with tons of other videos (of shorter length) encoded the same way and they worked fine. Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated though.
Can you try updating to the latest version of QT (and if it works
include the installer with your distribution)?
Also, ensure you have the latest Director update (10.1.1) which includes
the latest version of the QuickTime Asset xtra
Alternately, you can try using the MpegAdvance xtra instead of
Quicktime. It is not free, but it works very well, and most of the
commands are the same as QT, so there isn't much of a learning curve. I
have had very good luck using it in the past.

The latest version of Quicktime installer included w/distribution is a great idea. Unfortunately it brings us back to the copyright issue thing. I've already checked with the powers that be about that. They said no go. As for the Director update, I've done that already and it was no help.
I'll look into the MpegAdvance xtra thing.
Thanks, both of you for your insight. If either of you have any more revelations, please reply with them. It's greatly appreciated.
Do you know if the MpegAdvance xtra software is compatible with Windows 2000 & 98? I looked it up and it only has Windows XP listed.
I have not had any problems with MpegAdvance using any version of
Windows (95 and onward)
Thanks Mike. I'll look into it.
