Steve Grisetti Aug 10, 2013 6:09 AM (in response to fallsoveralotcuzshesfell)It sounds as though you have not got an efficient workflow set up (or that your hardware is being overwhelmed).
What model of camcorder is your video coming from and what format and resolution is it?
When you started your Premiere Elements project, which project settings did you select? (You can see the setttings listed, but you can not change them, under the Edit menu.)
If you have set up your project with the correct settings for your video, you will NOT see red lines above your clips when you add them to your timeline in Timeline mode. Is that the case in your project?

the_wine_snob Aug 10, 2013 7:09 AM (in response to Jollestudio)By "captions," do you mean Titles, that you have added to your Timeline?
Along with Steve's and Fallsoveralot's comments and questions, you might want to take a look at this article, on what info would be so very useful, in helping you: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3220274#3220274

Jollestudio Aug 10, 2013 7:22 AM (in response to Steve Grisetti)My camcorder is a Flip Mino HD. As for format and resolution, I don't really know what you mean. Where do I see that?
As for the settings, if I'm looking at the right place, they are "Sony XDCAM EX 720p". Maybe that's not what you mean.
Well there are red lines above when I add an effect, such as a fadeout or whatever, and also above each one of the titles (Bill Hunt: yes, titles, not captions, sorry)

6. Re: Program keeps shutting down
Steve Grisetti Aug 10, 2013 8:31 AM (in response to Jollestudio)It sounds like you've got your project set up properly for your video. Though I do recommend you render (press Enter) whenever you see red lines above the clips on your timeline.
That said, what processor do you have have, how much RAM and how much free, clean space is on your hard drive? When did you last run Disk Cleanup and the Defragmenter?

Jollestudio Aug 10, 2013 9:06 AM (in response to Steve Grisetti)You know, this is kinda funny. My problem appears to have been solved by pressing enter, once. That was all that was necessary, apparently. Thanks Steve Grisetti.
