Can you paste the character into the TextBox? If you can then it appears Flash CC might be interfering/intercepting the alt key so the numeric key pad is just in type mode.
Yes... I can copy the extended character into the text box.
Well.. if it's interferring... can someone please tell me how to fix it?
Did you read the first post??
You don't know what extended characters are?
They are characters that you can insert into the text area of ANY software program that has a text box.
The numbers go from 33 to 255.
1) Put cursor in side text box
2) Press (and hold down) the ALT + 0169
It should give you the character... ©
In my Flash CC, it just displays the text "0169"
It works fine on all the other CC apps

This is a very old windows "in the know" feature. In step 2 of the instructions above it's important to note that you need to do this on the numeric key pad. You can't use numbers above your letters. I happen to have a Microsoft Sidewinder X6 keyboard with detatchable numeric key pad and I took it off so I couldn't even test this in CS6 because I lost the key pad *doh* (but I imagine it works). Copy and paste almost always solves that issue, unless the font lacks that glyph.
I've had other IDEs intercept ALT. I don't think this is something you can get around. Maintaining robust keyboard shortcuts for speed of productivity will always trump not using charmap.exe or alt+#### numeric input.
I did use the number keypad!
It works for all other CC apps.
I have been using extended keyboard characters for years and years.
I know how and what it is suppose to do.
IT IS NOT WORKING in my Flash CC program.
Haha I was just talking to Jinu_Pappachan who was asking you to reproduce steps. I can see you're more than used to this little Windows easter egg fwhilton. I use it a lot too. I seemed like Jinu wasn't familiar with it however.
It's borderline. There's definitely a reason for it (probably hotkey interception messing with it) but I don't know if they'll actually graduate it to a bug. You can always send in this info to the Flash Pro wishlist to re-add the functionality:
Haha... "re-add" the funcitonality!?"
It's in all other CC apps, how can they forget that!!
It has always been in Flash too!!
I think of each product separately. Each on their own they are a huge endeavor to produce. I hope you get the feature back, good luck!
Thanks for reporting this. This has been logged this internally and is open for investigation under bug #3611546. Not sure if you could track this from outside but we'll try let you know once this gets fixed.
