Some VueScan files also display the wrong aspect ratio, mostly b&w and Text files. The developer didn't know why when asked about it some 4 years ago:

Subject: QUESTION re Pixel Aspect Ratio of some VueScan files opened in Photoshop
Hi Mr. Hamrick,
Would you have any advice on how to prevent certain VueScan files—mostly b&w and Text files—from opening in Photoshop with the wrong pixel aspect ratio?
Not a big problem, of course as it’s a trivial matter to fix them in Photoshop by going to the View menu > Pixel Aspect Ratio > Square, but I just wonder whether there’s a preference somewhere, either in VueScan or in Photoshop, that would circumvent this small extra step?
As it is, I practically live inside Photoshop and VueScan, and I’m embarrassed to admit I have not found a workaround for this tiny, insignificant issue.
Thank you for your generosity and dedication.
