That's the current state of the file, I believe, and is a very serious problem. Best hope is an export to .idml. See Remove minor corruption by exporting

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. I have solved the issue though. Very bizarre. I opened an inDesign file on my desktop and saved it as something else with no problem. I then created a new one on the desktop, saved as something else and no problem. I did the same out of the folder where the files were I was having difficulty with, wouldn't do it. I created a new folder, created new files and bingo no problem. It seems to be the folder that is the issue not inDesign. Very strange. Folder duly trashed.
Now if only I could go back to my original name instead of this daft one life would be fine!
I don't suppose you moved the files out of the folder and tried testing?
No I didn't. At the point i had the problem they were only just templates and the first page of a document. I might try again out of devillment.
