I'm having some trouble with AE CC's ray traced comp options. I've selected "ray traced', crreated a new 3D solid. However when I view "Geometry Options" I am presented with only "Curvature" and "Segments" - there's no option to extrude etc.
Is it that it's not possible to extrude a solid? I had hoped to create the solid and then drop a mask onto it to create my shape.

You need to create a Text Layer and then make it 3D.
You can then extrude the Text layer, however it is not possible to extrude a shape layer.
That's just not how it works. You will have to use shape layers or text layers. Only those have extrusions.

You can extrude shape layers.
