Brand/Model laptop... Brand/Model graphics adapter, and driver version
Video not working is OFTEN caused by an out of date graphics driver
if you have an nvidia display card then please update the drivers for the card from the nvidia website & while installing the drivers select "custom" & perform a clean install. Also if you have an AMD card then uninstall the current drivers from control panel & reinstall the latest drivers from the AMD website.
also try to launch the program in software only mode & see if you are able to get a playback. Hope this works.
HI and thanks for the help. The brand of my pc is HP. The model is a laptop with the number : dv6. The graphics adapter is ATI Mobility Rodeon HD5470 and the driver version: 8.771.10.
I did a driver checkup and windows told me that I was running the latest driver.
>windows told me
When it comes to drivers, Windows is not always corrrect
You need to go directly to the ATI/AMD site and find a driver for your model... may be at the link below that I found with Google
Hi, please dont use device manager to check for the driver update. Please visit HTTP://support.amd.com for the latest drivers. There is an option for autodetect gpu on the website. You can use that option to check if your computer has the latest drivers installed. If you see that there is an update available for the graphic drivers.then please uninstall the current drivers completely before installing the new one. Hope that helps.
Windows is usually at least 6 mos. out of date, as are most driver detection utilities.
As others have said, one MUST check with the mfgr's. Web site, plug in their video card's model, plus their OS, and check there. There is no other way to do it, and be correct.
