1. Re: Trouble with Crop and Quick Select--HELP!!
claricechan Aug 15, 2013 10:50 AM (in response to mamaliciousbaby)Hi mamaliciousbaby,
This has been a known problem with the Windows 8 Graphics Processor Unit (GPU) drivers. They are working with the GPU Vendors and Microsoft to come up with a solution.
In the meanwhile, changing your GPU drawing mode to 'Basic' in Preferences should get rid of the black screen flicker.
To do this, first go to Preferences --> Performance.
A dialog box will pop up, locate the 'Graphics Processing' area:
Click Advanced Settings and change the Drawing Mode to 'Basic'
Click OK, and you should be able to continue without further issues.
This problem can also be solved by upgrading your hardware, here are some helpful forum threads that may also answer more of your questions:
Why does Photoshop Blink? (Windows 8) and Black Screen Flickering (For Mac).
Hope this helps!

Beans_the_cat Oct 10, 2013 8:24 PM (in response to claricechan)I tried setting the GPU to Basic but it had no effect. I have a brand new PC, so I should not have to add another graphics card. When will Adobe fix this?
